Experts agree that people can significantly enhance personal effectiveness by honestly evaluating their behavior and selecting self-management strategies that maximize strengths and minimize weaknesses. Organizations around the world use the 360° Profile to improve effectiveness in four main application areas:
- self-awareness and self-management
- peer relationships and team building
- performance coaching and managing others
- client relationships
The 360° Profile is a multi-level learning instrument. It provides detailed, personalized information to help individuals and teams apply learning immediately. The feedback covers a broad range of behavioral characteristics, including behavioral strengths and weaknesses, motivating and de-motivating factors, and management and selling styles.
- Use the 360° for self-development. The 360° ties into any leadership developmental process. The best leaders are always looking for ways to improve.
- Feedback is based in context . Context includes the individual's personal and the organization's objectives. Feedback will be filtered according to what will work or not work in support of those goals.
- Strengths are highlighted. Emphasis on what the person does well. Areas to develop are often a strength used in excess.
- A 360° instrument anchors the coaching. It gives a credible reference point for what is needed to change and progress. Otherwise, doubt can mask any real changes that are needed.
- More precise and fairer than boss-only reviews. Feedback from the various perspectives of subordinates, peers, bosses and self can be very different. Different skills are required to manage each group.
- More accurate than self-ratings. In almost every study, high self-ratings had the lowest correlations with success. Some of the same research shows that, in fact, lower self-ratings are not a reflection of low self esteem, but higher standards
